چکیده

A comparison was made of the effect of glyphosate (Roundup®Plus), a post-emergency applied herbicide, and of Harness®GTZ, a pre-emergency applied herbicide, on the rhizobacterial communities of genetically modified NK603 glyphosate-tolerant maize. The potential effect was monitored by direct amplification, cloning and sequencing of soil DNA encoding 16S rRNA, rhizobacterial DNA hybridization to commercially available genome-wide microarrays from the soil bacterium Streptomyces coelicolor, and highthroughput DNA pyrosequencing of the bacterial DNA coding for 16S rRNA hypervariable V6 region. The results obtained strongly suggest that both herbicides do in fact affect the maize rhizobacterial communities, glyphosate being, to a great extent, the environmentally less aggressive herbicide.

Effect of the herbicide glyphosate on the culturable fraction of glyphosate-tolerant maize rhizobacterial communities using two different growth media.

A comparison was drawn between the effect of glyphosate (Roundup Plus), a post-emergence applied herbicide, and Harness GTZ, a pre-emergence applied herbicide, on the culturable fraction of the rhizobacterial communities of genetically modified NK603 glyphosate-tolerant maize. Two different non-selective rich media were used to grow fast-growing culturable bacteria, BHI and NB, as a more accura...

Regeneration of Glyphosate-Tolerant Nicotiana tabacum after Plastid Transformation with a Mutated Variant of Bacterial aroA gene

Presence of antibiotic resistance markers has always been considered as one of the main safety concerns in transgenic plants and their derived products. Elimination of antibiotic selectable markers from transgenics is a major hurdle for finding efficient and safe candidates. Herbicide tolerance genes might be attractive alternatives. In this study, a variant form of the 5-enoylpyruvyl shikimate...

Biodegradation of glyphosate herbicide by Salinicoccus spp isolated from Qom Hoze-soltan lake, Iran

Background: Glyphosate (N-phosphonomethyl Glycine) is an organophosphorus pesticide with dangerous effects on the environment. In this study, the biodegradation of glyphosate herbicide by halophilic bacteria isolated from Qom Hoze-Soltan Lake has been investigated. Methods: After sampling and bacterial isolation, native halophilic strains grown in the presence of glyphosate at a wavelength of 6...

A Review on Production of Glyphosate-Resistant Plants with Emphasis on Molecular Methods

Herbicide-resistant plants are one of the most common plants that comprise the majority of the total population of transgenic plants. Glyphosate is an herbicide that controls a wide range of plant species. Position of these herbicides reaction is 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) that only exists in plants and some bacteria. This herbicide was known to be suitable and safe for...
